The building itself is a first-class art museum.
Facility
Grand Hall “Jindai-kaku”
The vast main hall is supported without a single main pillar, thanks to the traditional specialized construction method known as “sōmotase.” Adorning the ceiling is a magnificent coffered ceiling crafted from “Jindai cedar”—a “miraculous wood” that lay dormant deep underground for over a thousand years. The main hall truly represents the pinnacle of Japanese architectural beauty. Here, you can immerse yourself in its timeless history and experience the artistic craftsmanship of the palace carpenters up close.
BAR “MANGA”
BAR “MANGA” takes its name from the historic salon where Showa-era manga artists once gathered night after night to share their passion. In a space that preserves the warmth and retro design of that era, it serves as a serene retreat for adults, adding a touch of color to the quiet nights of Hakone as they fade into the distance. Please enjoy a blissful moment of deep reflection with an original cocktail or a carefully selected local sake in hand.

Lounge Inside the Building & 3rd-Floor Library
As you listen to the gentle murmur of the Hayakawa River and feel the quiet rhythm of the wooden architecture, you can spend a quiet, refined moment with a book from the shelves in hand, doing nothing and free from any pressures. The nostalgic design of this historic, three-story wooden building enhances the quiet passage of time, making it feel even deeper and more beautiful.
